Garrett started his pro surfing career when he was still in high school when he made $250 in one of his first surf tournaments. For the first half of his career he describes himself as just drifting along. With no distinct goals or purpose.
The second half of his career Garrett saw amazing growth and increased happiness. Why? Writing down goals (and exactly what he needed to do to achieve those). When most are well past their careers he was going into his prime.
It’s an amazing story of how Garrett took his life up a notch through specific actions. Which led him to holding the world record for largest wave surfed (estimated 100 feet) off the cost of Nazaré, Portugal in 2013.
